Glacier Between Seasons

I was up visiting Glacier National Park last week and it’s that time of year where we’re in-between seasons, and as always, Glacier has something to deliver. I was reminded that each month definitely has it’s own uniqueness to it and cetainly this time of year is no exception. One nice part about this time of year and even into heading into fall, is the lack of crowds. I think that September is one of the preferred times of the year to visit the park for a lot of locals. Not only are the crowds gone, but the colors will begin to change soon, transforming the park into an array of oranges, yellows, and reds.

If visiting Glacier is on your list, you may look at the off-season. More than likely you’ll have a lot of the park to yourself.

Enjoy the Fall!

Daly Mansion

I was in Hamilton over Labor Day and paid a visit to the Daly Mansion near town. This is an interesting place to check out as it was once the summer home of “Copper King” Marcus Daly who made his fortune in the mines of Butte and his lumber industry in the Bitterroot. He also owned the smelter in Anaconda and put a lot this part of Montana on the map.

The Mansion is just over 24,000 square feet with 24 bedrooms,14 baths, and 7 fireplaces. It sits on about 50 acres which is owned by the state and managed by the Daly Mansion Preservation Society.

If you’re in Hamilton, it’s definitely worth the visit.
