The Montana 2010 Photography Workshops that I will be teaching are now posted under the Classes & Workshops section on my website at www.jasonsavagephotography.com. This year should be a blast as I will be hosting the workshops in some of my favorite locations around Montana. Last year we had some great folks on the workshops and some excellent photography. Thanks to all of last years students for making my job a real pleasure and look forward to seeing you out there this year! Here’s a few pics from last years workshops.

Seeley Lake Photography Workshop

Just got back from a fall photography workshop I was teaching in Seeley Lake and boy was it a beautiful weekend. The weather was on our side and even gave us some nice bits of light here and there.

No fall colors yet to be found. The record cold temps we had last week have killed off most of the leaves and they’re just a dead brown color. The only trees baring any color were the Tamaracks and we found some nice patches of them in the higher country above Seeley Lake.

The Tamracks or Larch as you may know them, look to be still en-route to their brilliant golden orange, but are a couple weeks behind schedule. Usually this time of year up in the Seeley Lake area, these trees are at their peak and displaying a magnificent  scene of fall color. If you’re able to make it up in the next week or two, you should have a really nice show.

I was reminded on the workshop  that even without all of the usual fall colors, there is still always something to photograph in Montana. We had some great light, beautiful weather and some fantastic looking Tamaracks. It was a great weekend to be tromping around Seeley Lake.

Just got back from a quick trip up to the Seeley Lake area and it’s looking awesome up there. Of course I did a little paddling while I was up there and explored around Seeley Lake and the Clearwater River area. Tons of wildlife out and of course I left my long lens at home. I should know by now that I should just expect to see killer wildlife shots if I continue doing that.

However I was paddling, so decided to pack light. Still it was great to be out for some R&R this weekend.

Also took a beautiful hike over to Morrell Falls and man is there a ton of water coming down right now. Also was devoured by some seriously mean mosquitos as well. They were out in full force up there this weekend and just brutal.

Beargrass is also out in force. Looking just magical and I think it’s going to be a banner year in the area.

That’s all for now. Will have some more stuff coming next weekend.

Had a few minutes to get a quick post. Been pretty busy lately and haven’t had much time to get anything out.

Was up in Seeley Lake area last weekend and the Tamaracks are awesome! If you get a chance, check them out. They won’t be around much longer as they look like they are at their peak.

Fall colors are winding down, but there are still some good areas to check out. Seeley Lake being one of them. If you take the FR 477 that connects Seeley Lake to Ovando, this has some of the best Tamaracks and also check out Rainy Lake, very nice.

Hopefully in the next couple days I will get some time to get some more pics out and some info on what’s been happening around the state.
